Overview

ResortsCasino-Hotel was Atlantic City’s first legal, state-regulated casino and the first legal casino to open in the US outside Nevada. Less than two years after New Jerseyans legalized gambling in Atlantic City, Resorts opened on May 26, 1978.

The land where Resorts sits on TheBoardwalk has a storied past. Resorts International was formed in 1968 and purchased land and property dating back to the 19th century in the hopes of looming gambling legislation. It took several ballot attempts and a few legislative bodies and governors before Gov. Brendan Byrne signed the New Jersey Casino Control Act on June 2, 1977. However, it was the voters of New Jersey who passed the 1976 referendum that eventually allowed Resorts to open.

Having changed ownership multiple times, including through the hands of President Donald Trump, Resorts is now owned by DBMG Casinos. In the last six years, the casino has been rebranded with the theme of the roaring ‘20s. Though DBMG holds the operator’s license, Mohegan Sun manages Resorts.

Primary properties

The hotel at Resorts offers good value, especially to those who book online, in advance, and for multiple nights. Even in the late spring (a popular season), a 1.5 bath, 650-square-foot suite with a jacuzzi tub, double sinks, and a four-person dining table runs $169/night during the week. For guests just passing through, self-parking is always free.

Four casinos are expected to close this year in the New Jersey gambling destination.

Resorts boasts more than 2,500 slot machines on its 100,000-square-foot gaming floor, constantly adding new titles, like Sherlock Holmes and True 3D games. Blackjack Match Progressive can be found across from the high limit pit, and as the progressive meter rises, a $5 wager can turn into $53,000 or more when both player and dealer get matching-suited A-K blackjacks!

Online gambling at Resorts

The popularity of poker boomed during the first decade of this century. PokerStars became a leader in online poker and served the US market until April 15, 2011, a day known in the poker community as Black Friday. Since this time, many Americans assumed online poker was gone forever. It may surprise some to know that PokerStars has been in the New Jersey market for about three years, and just like pre-Black Friday, it offers a $600 sign-up bonus.

Anyone 21 and older can sign up through resortsac.com. The most spectacular part is that deposits and withdrawals can be made at Resorts’ main cage.

Besides PokerStars, there are two ways to stay in the action day or night from anywhere in New Jersey on a mobile device, Mac, or PC. ResortsCasino.com and MoheganCasino.com offer an extensive list of game titles for a variety of stakes. New sign-ups are rewarded with a deposit bonus up to $1,000. Currently, MoheganCasino.com has a 150 percent deposit bonus up to $1,500 with the bonus code BX150.Players need not deposit to win real cash. Both online casinos run promotions where free spins can turn into sizable winnings.

Players can easily make financial transactions (deposits and withdrawals) through online bank transfer, instant e-check, or by credit card. Cash at the casino is always welcome.

Rewards

The Star Card is the players card for Resorts AC and both Mohegan Sun casinos. Following the custom of tiered loyalty programs, new sign-ups begin at the Premiere level and then graduate to Epic, Paramount, and Red Carpet. Players with cards from before the respective Mohegan properties merged loyalty programs may use any or all of their cards to make a purchase using comp dollars for shopping, dining, and more.

In addition to comp dollars (which have a value of 1:1), slot players also earn cash back. Cash back is valid three days after a slot session has ended, and it expires after two months.

At the moment, the online rewards program and Star Card rewards are separate. It’s possible these loyalty programs will be combined in the future.
