Poker Rules 3 Cards
This table game is one of the simplest types of casino poker. Unlike many other types of poker, both the dealer and the player are dealt only three cards. In BetVoyager’s version of this poker game, we have altered the standard rules in order to increase payouts when the player wins (see table 1). Furthermore, the player can play on four boxes at once and view all his cards as soon as they are dealt. The basic rules of casino poker are described in our Guide section.

Main Features of 3 Card Poker
The player can play on up to four boxes in three card poker. The player can place an ANTE bet and/or a bet on the bonus (called Pair Plus) on any box.
Each box in play is dealt three cards. The cards on all boxes are turned face-up immediately after the deal in 3 Card Poker. The dealer also receives three cards, which are dealt face-down.
Poker hands are not ranked in the same order as 5-card poker. 3-card poker hands are ranked in the following order of seniority:
- Straight Flush
- Three of a Kind
- Straight
- Flush
- Pair
- Ace High or Less
The hand A-K-Q is the highest straight and the hand 3-2-A is the lowest one in three card poker.
If the player made his ANTE and has a straight or higher, he receives an ANTE Bonus (table 1). This payout is made regardless of the strength of the dealer’s hand.
On each box, the player can either fold and lose his ANTE, or continue the game by making a BET equal to the ANTE.
The dealer needs a queen high or better to qualify. If the dealer doesn’t qualify, the ANTE pays out 1:1 while the BET doesn’t pay anything. If the dealer has a qualifying hand but the player’s hand is better, both bets pay out 1:1.
If you play more than one box, the ante amounts cannot be 5 times more or less than each other.
Basic Rules of 3 Card Poker
Three Card Poker is played with a single deck of cards, shuffled for every hand. That’s true regardless of whether you’re playing in a live casino or online casino. In live casinos, the shuffling usually is done with an automatic shuffling machine. Standard blackjack-sized, seven-player tables are used in live casinos. Eventually, three-card poker appeared among many late variations such as Omaha poker or Rush poker. In general, it is a form of Stud Poker that combines the rules of several less popular variations. Three-Card Poker is a fast and exciting online table game that is similar to English 3-Card Brag. Players are dealt a three-card hand and must simply beat the dealer's qualifying hand. The key to Three-Card Poker is knowing when to play (bet again), and when to fold. Since in 3 card poker, only 3 cards are used, there are only 6 standard poker hand ranking compared to the original 9. There is an exception though. Since making a flush becomes easier by using 3 cards, the hand ranking for a flush is lower than a straight. Rest all of the hand rankings is the same.
Before the cards are dealt, the player chooses which boxes he wants to play on and makes his ANTE. In addition to this basic bet on the box (or instead of it), the player can also make a Pair Plus bet. With this bet, the player is betting on receiving a pair or higher in his original hand.
A sign on the table indicates the range of bets permitted (minimum and maximum). The size of a Pair Plus bet is independent of the size of the ANTE, but both of these bets must fall within the table’s range.
Each box has the following three figures: a square, an ellipse, and a rectangle. The ANTE is placed on the ellipse and the Pair Plus bet is placed on the square. The rectangle is intended for the BET (see paragraph 7).
To make a bet in three card poker, it is first necessary to choose a chip with the desired face-value. At the beginning of the game, this chip is chosen by default, and the chip with the minimum face-value fixes itself onto the cursor. If the player wants a chip with a different face-value, he can select it by clicking on that chip with the cursor. The player can also use the scroll wheel on his mouse to change the chip’s value. After the chip is selected, the player can place a bet by clicking the mouse on the desired part of the game table and his bet will appear there. Each subsequent click adds another chip of the selected face-value to the bet. If the player wants to remove the last chip from his bet, he can remove the chip fixed onto the cursor by clicking the cursor on any empty part of the game window and then clicking on this bet.
The 'Clear' button can be pressed to remove all the bets from the table. If the player wishes to repeat his bets from the previous hand, he can press the 'Rebet' button. The 'Deal' button will begin the game after all bets have been made.
After the cards have been dealt, successive play on boxes begins. First, the Pair Plus bet is settled. The payouts for this bet are shown in table 1. If the player made his ANTE and has one of the three best hands — a straight flush, three-of-a-kind or a straight — he immediately receives an ANTE Bonus.
The player has two options on each box:
- raise the initial wager by making a BET equal to the ANTE (the Bet button)
- fold and lose the ANTE (the Fold button)
When the player has made a decision on his boxes, the dealer’s cards are turned over and the final results are determined. The dealer qualifies with a queen high or better, and his minimal qualifying hand is Q-3-2 in 3 Card poker. If the dealer doesn’t qualify, the ANTE pays out 1:1 and the BETS are not paid.
If the dealer qualifies and his combination is better than the player’s, the player loses his ANTE and his BET. If the player and the dealer have hands of equal value, the game ends in a draw and the ANTE and BET are returned to the player. If the player has the better hand, both his bets pay out 1:1.

3 Card Poker Rules. Learning 3 card poker rules is as easy as playing the poker game and can be done in no more than 5 minutes. Who would have thought? In five minutes, you will be able to not only be able to play three card poker. Three card poker is an adapted version of the traditional poker.

3 Card Poker with No House Edge features a slightly different payout scheme. It can be viewed in the game window of this poker game. The casino doesn’t have an advantage on either the ante wager or the Pair Plus bet.

INTRODUCTION TO POKER
Poker is foundationally a game of a chance. The addition of betting to the game added new dimensions of skill and psychology which allows players to strategize within a game that is largely based on random chance. The name poker is thought to be an English derivative from the Irish “Poca” (pocket) or French “Poque,” although these games may not be the original ancestors of Poker. Since the conception of poker, there have been numerous variations created of the classic game. Poker is a family of card games, so the information below is an outline of principles that are applied to several forms of poker.
THE BASICS
Poker games use standard 52 card decks, however, players may choose to play variants which include Jokers (as wild cards). The cards are ranked in poker, from high to low: A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2. In some poker games, aces are the lowest card, not the high card. In a deck of cards, there are four suits: spades, diamonds, hearts, and clubs. In a standard poker game, the suits are not ranked. However, “hands” are ranked. Your hand is the five cards you hold at the time of showdown, which happens after all the betting is finished and players show their cards to determine who wins the pot. Typically, the person with the highest ranking hand wins, although in Lowball games low hand wins. In the event of a tie, the pot is split.

THE PLAY
Starting to the dealer’s left, cards are dealt clockwise around the table, one at a time.
In Stud poker, there is a round of betting after each card is dealt. The first card dealt is face-down, this is the hole card. There may be an ante or bring in bet players must pay first, and then normal betting ensues. Players bet strategically as their hand grows based on the strength of their cards and their opponent’s cards. The player who bets the most wins if everyone else folds. At the showdown, however, the player left with the highest hand wins the pot.
In Draw poker, five cards are all dealt at once, two of which are dealt face-down.These are hole cards. After the deal, a round of betting ensues. Betting continues until all players are “square” with the pot, meaning if a player raises during betting, you must at least call (pay the pot the new bet amount) or choose to raise the bet amount (forcing other players to put more money in the pot). If you do not want to match the new bet, you may choose to fold and throw in your hand. After the first round of betting players may discard up to three unwanted cards for new cards. This ushers in a new round of betting. After the pot is square, players reveal their cards in the showdown and the player with the highest hand wins the pot.
BETTING
A poker game does not go without betting. In many poker games, you must pay an ‘ante’ in order to be dealt cards. Following the ante, bring in bets and all following bets are put in the pot in the middle of the table. During gameplay in poker, when it is your turn to bet you have three options:
- Call. You may call by betting the amount wagered by a previous player. For example, if you bet 5 cents and another player raises the bet amount to a dime (raises 5 cents), you may call on your turn by paying the pot 5 cents, thus matching the 10 cent bet amount.
- Raise. You may raise by first betting the amount equal to the current wager and then bet more. This increases the wager or bet amount on the hand which other players must match if they wish to remain in the game.
- Fold. You may fold by laying down your cards and not betting. You do not have to put money in the pot but you do sit out on that hand. You forfeit any money wagered and have no opportunity to win the pot.
Betting rounds continue until all players have called, folded, or raised. If a player raises, once the raise has been called by all remaining players, and there was no other raise, the betting round ends.
VARIATIONS
Poker has numerous variations which are all loosely based on the same structure of the play. They also generally use the same ranking systems for hands. In addition to Stud and draw poker, there are two other main families of variants.
Three Card Poker Online
- STRAIGHT. Players receive a full hand and there is one round of betting. This is the oldest form of poker (with stud poker being the second oldest). The origin of the game is from Primero, a game that eventually evolved into three card brag.
- COMMUNITY CARD POKER. Community card poker is a variant of stud poker, often it is referred to as flop poker. Players receive an incomplete deck of face-down cards and a certain number of face-up “community cards” are dealt to the table. The community cards may be used by any player to complete their five-card hand. The popular Texas Hold Em’ and Omaha poker are both variants of poker in this family.
