The 2019/20 NFL season is slowly heating up as we are after the early odds on the Super Bowl winner offered by some of the most popular US sports bookmakers. With five weeks behind us, we have some sort of clue on what to expect, but there is still a long way to go before February and the final game of the season which is to be held in Miami 2020. The Dolphins will most certainly not feature the Super Bowl on their patch following a dreadful start to the campaign. They are yet to win a game after five weeks and are in danger of failing to pick up a single victory in the entire regular season based on horrendous performances shown so far.
We will focus on the teams expected to make it to the play-offs and discuss their chances of going all the way in the battle for the Lombardi trophy. We’ll compare the odds offered by William Hill New Jersey, Bet MGM, and Draftkings to see where you can get the best value for backing a particular team to lift the silverware.

The Super Bowl 53 in numbers
Before we move on to this season’s finale, let’s briefly go through the previous term of the competition. As you are all probably familiar with, New England Patriots won their sixth Super Bowl, beating Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in the biggest match this sport has to offer. The Pats thus moved level with Pittsburgh Steelers at the top of the all-time winners list. They sit alone at the top if we look the number of Super Bowl appearances (11), while their legendary QB Tom Brady wrote history by winning four Super Bowl MVP awards. Can New England go on and clinch their seventh title and officially become the greatest team in the history of the league?
The Patriots did not shine during the regular season in the previous campaign. They lost as many as five games in the process, but still managed to win their respective division. However, their immense experience, alongside the amazing Bill Belichik & Tom Brady partnership, guided them to a phenomenal spell of form in the post-season. They went past Los Angeles Chargers 41-28 in the AFC semi-finals before pulling off a big upset in the conference final away at Kansas City Chiefs after overtime. Finally, they produced one of the best defensive showings in the Super Bowl history in a 13-3 victory over the LA Rams in the huge league finale.
From the betting perspective, the previous Super Bowl brought a massive surprise for the bookies who expected to witness much more points on the occasion. Most American sports bookmakers set the totals line at 55.5, but there were no more than 16 points scored in total at Mercedes-Benz Stadium last February. The Patriots were slight favorites and they justified the tag, winning by a margin higher than 3.5 points (the spread line).

Super Bowl 2020 Betting Odds & Picks – Top Tier Contenders: The Patriots as massive favorites
New England Patriots: The reigning champions off to a strong start
The Patriots are the main contenders to defend the title, especially after making an impressive start to the new season. They are one of just two teams with a perfect record after five rounds. Tom Brady & company showed strength by outclassing the likes of Pittsburgh, Miami, New York Jets, and Washington, while they survived a tough Buffalo Bills test with a 10-16 win on the road on Matchday No 4. It was the only loss of the campaign so far for the Bills.
The rock-solid defense did the job for the Pats in the previous Super Bowl and it could well guide them towards another record-breaking title this time around. They did not allow 15 or more points to any outfit in the opening five rounds of the 2019/20 season. If you are generally a fan of safer bets, New England have to be your number one call as there are no bigger favorites than them to go all the way this season.
Looking at the odds, most bookmakers keep the Pats as the main contenders. They are +300 to win the seventh silverware with William Hill New Jersey, Bet MGM, and Draftkings each. Even though there is always a risk of a potential injury, we can hardly think of a better futures bet than New England to win the Super Bowl 54 at +300 odds.

Kansas City Chiefs: Leaky defense could cost them once again
The Chiefs were millimeters away from making the Super Bowl appearance last season, but they were stopped in the anthological conference final against the latter champions Patriots after the overtime. Kansas City had the home-court advantage thanks to a better record in the regular season. They also stormed past Indianapolis Colts 31-13 in the conference semis, but it all counted for little due to the defensive leaks in the aforementioned loss to New England.
Kansas have the attacking firepower on disposal in their ranks, but we have reasons to doubt in their defensive line. They have already lost a game this season, falling 13-19 to Indianapolis in the fifth round. The Chiefs were nowhere as impressive as The Patriots so far in the season. The roles were different last time around, though, but we doubt in their chances of causing trouble for the flying-high Pats in the potential replay of the AFC final in late-January.
Nevertheless, our three bookmakers (William Hill NJ, Bet MGM, and Drafktings) all consider Kansas City Chiefs as second favorites to win the Lombardi silverware. They are +600 across all platforms at this stage of the season. Anyhow, we find little value there because of their slower beginning to the regular season as well as the fact they can’t avoid New England en route to the potential Super Bowl appearance.

New Orleans Saints: The stern defense and a hall of fame quarterback
The Saints will be contenders as long as they have the likes of Drew Brees and Alvin Kamara in their ranks. They owned the best regular-season record in the previous campaign (together with the Rams) with 13 wins and just 3 losses. They had the home-court advantage in the NFC final against the LA Rams, but a late pass interference call lost the clutch 23-26 affair for them on the occasion.
New Orleans should have no problems dominating their division once again. They showed great team spirit to bounce back from a tough 27-9 second-round defeat at the LA Rams at the beginning of the new season. They went on to see off Seattle Seahawks 27-33 on the road. Sean Payton’s men won four of the opening five matches, but they are prone to struggling for creativity against top-notch defensive lines. The flaw was visible in the mentioned defeat in Los Angeles. On the other hand, they enjoyed the second-best defensive ranking in the 208/19 campaign and they still have a hall of fame quarterback capable of making the difference against any team in the league on his day. The Saints are +800 to lift the trophy at William Hill NJ, Bet MGM, and Draftkings. The second-round defeat at the Rams does leave question marks in terms of the value of such a bet, but we just have to see such star-studded squad as genuine contender.

Green Bay Packers: Rodgers chasing the title with a new manager
The Packers will want to forget the previous season as soon as possible. They failed to make it to the play-offs mainly because of a slow start and a series of losses caused by a tough schedule. The devastating run resulted in a managerial change as Matt LaFleur has been appointed as the team’s new head coach in January this year. It will be very interesting to see if Aaron Rodgers will struggle to adjust to life without Mike McCarthy as this will be his first season under a difference new manager.
Green Bay had a challenging schedule at the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign as well, but they managed to pull off four wins in five games. It is a fantastic return if we know they managed to dispatch Chicago Bears in the opening fixture at sold-out Soldier Field in Matchday No 1. The only defeat came in the fourth round against yet another contender Philadelphia Eagles, but the Packers rebounded with a ten-point margin victory over Cowboys away in Dallas.
They are looking ahead of a series of winnable affairs and we definitely expect them in the play-offs. LaFleur-Rodgers partnership looks to be working well for now. This team has the capacity of going all the way with a strong play-offs run. They are +1200 with William Hill NJ, Bet MGM, and Draftkings each.

Philadelphia Eagles: Inconsistency is their main issue
Philadelphia Eagles are considered to be even bigger favorites than the Packers if we are to judge by the futures odds offered by William Hill NJ. They price them at +1100 at the moment. If you are looking to back Phila as a dark horse, we’d recommend Draftkings or Bet MGM who will pay +1200 for their win in the Super Bowl 54.
Nonetheless, it is little to suggest such a scenario after the performances shown by the team at the very beginning of the season. The Eagles lost two of five games and their defeats came at the hands of Atlanta Falcons (NFC strugglers) and Detroit Lions. Quarterback Carson Wentz struggled with injuries in two consecutive seasons and it has clearly left a significant impact. He has plenty of men to feed in the offensive line, but Philadelphia’s defense has plenty to work on ahead of potential post-season challenges. They did stun Green Bay Packers in the fourth round, but we doubt they can cause a significant upset in the most important ties of the season.

Los Angeles Rams: Massive value at sky-high +1600 odds
The Rams have swept their respective division last season with a record of 13 wins and 3 defeats in the process. They deservedly entered the Super Bowl 53 thanks to a huge away victory over New Orleans Saints in the NFC final. Nevertheless, New England Patriots were too strong in the season finale. Can Jared Goff lead his team towards similar heights this time around? Los Angeles won back-to-back division titles and we are fairly surprised to see them priced up at sky-high +1600 odds to lift the trophy. If Todd Gurley, who made more than 1,200 rushing yards in two consecutive campaigns, stays healthy, the value is enormous with this side. The Rams did lose to Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks inside the opening five rounds of the new season, but we just have to back them to go all the way at such high odds with William Hill New Jersey, Bet MGM, and Draftkings.

Dallas Cowboys: Their strongest team in the last decade
Cowboys entered the new season with the strongest squad in the last decade. They made it to the NFC semi-final last time around and they have reasons to hope for a deeper run in the 2019/20 campaign. The head coach Jason Garrett has a dominant defense on disposal, while the attacking line will no doubts be much more lethal with Ezekiel Elliott saga concluded.
Dallas began the new campaign with three wins in three games, but they suffered back-to-back narrow losses to New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers. However, the team showed strength against such strong rivals and we can see them causing an upset come January. They are also +1600 favorites to lift the trophy with Bet MGM, William Hill New Jersey, and Drafktings each.

San Francisco 49ers: The value is huge with impeccable San Francisco at +1600
The 49ers won only 4 of 16 matches in the regular season in the previous term of the competition. However, our warm advice is to hurry and back them to win the Super Bowl 54 while the odds for such a scenario are still set at +1600 with Draftkings, William Hill New Jersey, and Bet MGM.
San Francisco are the most pleasant surprise of the season after five opening rounds. They have the perfect record with five victories in five outings. The pre-season acquisitions of Dee Ford and Nick Bosa proved out to be fantastic moves as the 49-ers are looking powerful in the attack. They boast the best attacking record in the entire NFC after five matches. Can they hold on and keep such an amazing spell of form going as we head towards the more important part of the season?
